The rules that keep Privatt safe, lawful, and fair for everyone.
Last updated: July 11, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") governs your use of privatt.com and the services we provide (the "Service"), including the encrypted Vault, Send (when available), Kept (when available), and related website, account, and billing features. It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service. By using the Service you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You are solely responsible for everything you store, upload, encrypt, transmit, record, or otherwise make available through the Service, including its legality and your right to possess and process it. The privacy the Service provides is not a shield for unlawful activity.
Vault, device-held modes. When you use a device-held encryption mode ("Your devices only" or "Two-key vault"), your files are end-to-end encrypted with keys we never receive, which means we cannot see, monitor, or review the contents of your vault.
Vault, Managed by Privatt. When you choose Managed by Privatt encryption, we hold the key. That mode is not zero-knowledge. We may process file contents on our systems for limited purposes such as malware scanning and delivering downloads, as described in our privacy policy and Terms. Where we are technically able to act on content in that mode, we may do so to enforce this Policy.
Send. Send message bodies are end-to-end encrypted in the browser. We cannot read message contents. You remain responsible for what you send and for how you share the link and passphrase.
Kept. If you use Kept, you are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of bookkeeping data you enter, including personal information about your customers, vendors, and other third parties, and for any files you attach as receipts or supporting documents.
You may not use the Service to store, upload, transmit, record, or share any content that:
You may not, and may not attempt to:
Each Vault plan includes a defined amount of stored data and a download (egress) allowance per billing period. These allowances exist to keep the Service fast and fairly priced for everyone. If you reach your storage limit, further uploads are blocked until you free space or upgrade. Your download (egress) allowance is a fair-use guideline rather than a hard cut-off: exceeding it does not by itself pause your downloads, but it flags your account for review, and we may rate-limit your downloads or, for sustained or abusive use, restrict or suspend your download access. Deliberately structuring your use to operate a public distribution or streaming service through the Service is a violation of this Policy regardless of whether you remain within a numeric allowance.
If you believe content or activity on the Service violates this Policy, contact us at support@privatt.com. For copyright complaints, use the process and designated agent described in our Copyright Policy (copyright@privatt.com). For personal-information requests, contact privacy@privatt.com.
We may investigate suspected violations of this Policy and take any action we consider appropriate, including removing or disabling access to content where we are technically able, suspending or terminating accounts, and reporting activity to and cooperating with law enforcement. Because device-held encrypted vaults and Send message bodies are not readable by us, our primary remedy for those surfaces is often suspension or termination of the account rather than removal of individual items. Where Managed vault mode or other readable processing applies, we may act on content we can process.
Where we terminate an account for a violation of this Policy or our Terms of Service, you are not entitled to a refund of any prepaid fees. We may change this Policy from time to time, as described in our Terms of Service.
If anything in this policy is unclear, or you need to report abuse, reach out to our team.
